[BLOG] What is the best way to store my Tape?
There are several points to consider when storing tape. If proper storage is not taken into account, it can affect the final result of the project in question. We give you 4 tips on how to store tape correctly.
1. Temperature
Ambient temperature directly affects the tape and specifically the adhesive layer. It is therefore important to store the tape in a cool place (room temperature 20C). This keeps the quality of the tape constant.
2. Humidity
Humidity also affects the quality of the tape. We recommend storing the tape in a dry place. The carrier of the tape can absorb moisture, which can cause it to tear or lose its shape sooner.
3. UV radiation
When the adhesive layer of tape comes into contact with UV radiation or simply sunlight, the adhesive layer can harden. This means the tape no longer adheres well when in use. There are tapes available that are UV-resistant; UV radiation has a limited influence on this. Nevertheless, we recommend storing all tapes in a dark place, away from UV radiation. This is to guarantee the quality of the tape. The easiest way is to leave the tapes in the box they are packed in.
4. Period
Tape is generally of optimal quality for one year. After one year, the quality deteriorates in small steps. It is not that the tape can no longer be used after one year, the quality just becomes less, which can affect the final result of the project. The period also depends on the points mentioned above.
